This paper on "A 'Best Practice' Approach to Finite Element Analysis" was presented at the 5th International Conference on Reliability of Finite Element Methods for Engineering Applications - 10-12 May 1995, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
This paper briefly describes a number of UK industrial club projects (DTA, NAFEMS and SAFESA) that have studied structural integrity assessment (SIA) approaches, particularly using finite element analysis, across a wide range of industries. The aim of these projects has been to define and document "best practice" in complementary technology areas. An example is given of incorporation of these documents into a large company quality management system. The clubs are now seeking European (and worldwide) feedback.
