21st – 22nd April 2009, Helsinki, Finland
Today, engineers working on the development of products are increasingly faced with multi-disciplinary modelling. The equations governing mechanical behaviour of solids and fluids, acoustics, electricity and magnetism, chemical reactions etc. are often coupled. However, in the same way as we tend to ignore non-linearities, we, as engineers, tend to simplify the coupling in our simulations.
Many industrial problems request to consider multi-disciplinary coupling – in building the model, and in running the simulation – taking into account true interactions between the quantities. Easy to say, more difficult to accomplish because of the lack of experience and confidence most engineers have in commercial software.
Multidisciplinary simulation is a new challenge that industry, vendors and analysts are taking up. Making dedicated software for different modeling disciplines to work together - simultaneously ensuring convergency - may need new thinking. Are we going into a general multi-disciplinary software or is it more efficient to expand pre-existing software to cover multi-disciplinary applications?
This seminar aims to clarify these critical issues through keynote presentations and contributed papers.
Who Should Attend?
The event is aimed at engineers and managers who are involved or interested in engineering simulation.
Exhibition
The seminar will be accompanied by an exhibition of leading software and hardware suppliers and vendors. The exhibition will enable these to feature the latest developments and give all attendants the opportunities to discuss technical topics.
